Meet the team - marnie

Tell us about yourself Marnie?

I live in Bendigo with my husband Jim, and I have three adult children - Lucia, Amelia & Archer. The girls live in Melbourne, and Archie is in his final year of school. We live in a period home that we spend a lot of time enhancing, our weekends are often spent planning and creating. The girls say when they come home “can we please just come back and the house looks the same!”. I like to keep evolving, and it seems the house is always evolving because of it!

With the support of my family, I completed my studies in Interior Design. For the family, it most certainly made sense that this passion that I had in my personal life would spill over into my career. I love being amongst the beauty of the interior design world.

When I am not working, I am with my family and friends. We lead a very social life, which is a lot of fun!

What do you love about working at MYHAH?

I love that we have this incredible gallery, housing quality brands, all right here in Bendigo. Personally, I feel so grateful that I don't have to travel out of town to work in such a high-end space. It is literally on our doorstep. I love that we can share this passion for our brands with our customers. Having a supportive team who are all working towards the one goal of creating beautiful spaces for people means coming to work feels good.

What does home mean to you?

Home is everything. Home has to be cosy for me, and for my family. It's a place where everyone needs to have their own space and feel comfortable in. I spend the majority of my time cosying up my home. I do this by sharing a lot of photos in the home, having texture in the home with layering, and using colour. I always love opening the door when I come home and feeling happy about the space we have created for our family.

What is your favourite MYHAH piece?

Having recently purchased the Molmic Palisades Modular Sofa for our home, this would have to be my favourite piece! I think this Sofa is just so elegant and comfortable. It's not often elegance and comfort go together, but this Sofa does just that! It has the most beautiful curves, it is unbelievably comfy and makes a statement in a room. Because of the various individual pieces, you can be so creative with the configuration, and the fabrics. I have seen this Sofa look amazing in relaxed spaces, and equally amazing in formal settings.

If you can offer one piece of style advice, what would it be?

Don't be afraid of colour! Colour is mood enhancing and when used the right way, can be very cohesive to a space. When we look at colour, we take a holistic approach and look at everything in the space to ensure there is a relationship with the furniture we are introducing, and the decorative elements.

What design trends are you loving at the moment?

European aesthetic with a touch of Maximalism. I think we are getting braver in Australia at incorporating colour, pattern and texture, encapsulating a European way of styling our homes. The trend of marble in design pieces is not a new one, but most certainly seeks inspiration from this aesthetic. And when we think about it, marble is in a lot of our homes now. We are seeing many colour variations to marble that are trending right now and are very stylish!
