Meet the team - Lee

Tell us about yourself Lee?

I moved to country Victoria area 9 years ago from Fremantle WA with my husband. We had travelled and worked for many years and it was time to settle before the grandbabies started to arrive. We lived on a property in our renovated muddy for 6 years and then made the decision to move into Castlemaine where we have been for 3 years now. Our rustic pieces did not work in our newish home so the search began to find new furniture. I came across Make Your House A Home and signed up for the Couture for Living service. Best thing I ever did, not only did we have help to furnish our new home, I also picked up a job. I am employed as a Sales Consultant giving me the opportunity to learn about the world of furniture which was all new to me. I don’t come from a sales background, most of my career has been in education. All of my work over the years has been about building relations with people and I am grateful this continues on at Make Your House A Home. Well, an update on the grandbabies – we now have 10 so between family and part time work life is busy and I wouldn’t have it any other way.

What do you love about working at MYHAH?

My favourite thing is the people I meet and the conversations I get to have in a day. It is a good feeling knowing you have helped a customer to purchase a piece of furniture which is perfect for their home and space. I love working within a creative team that offers me the opportunity to expand my knowledge on a daily basis.

What does home mean to you?

Home is definitely my sanctuary. I love being surrounded by my favourite things that put a smile on my face. Styling my home and making sure that not only are we comfortable in our home but also people who visit our home settle in and feel relaxed. My home needs to most importantly feel good, look good and smell good, so I pay attention to all three.

What is your favourite MYHAH piece?

I love a Molmic Sofa, and at the moment my favourite is the Alpine. It is definitely a feet up, snuggle in sort of sofa. Because the sofas are all designed and manufactured in Melbourne, they can also be custom made to fit your space.

If you can offer one piece of style advice, what would it be?

Be true to yourself and your style.

What design trends are you loving at the moment?

I’m loving all of the colour, especially the depth in colour. We are seeing a lot of plum, deep blues and greens. I’m especially loving working with people in the gallery to incorporate colour with some of their existing, special pieces. Colour comes and goes, but we always need some colour in our lives!
