I met our client in the gallery one Saturday. We were chatting about a new Sofa, and potentially an Occasional Chair. We looked at some fabric options, and what might be suitable in their home. On closing our chat, our client said “Actually, I think I just really need some help!”.
Our client had so many fabulous ideas, and had shown me their Pinterest Board, which can I just say was nothing short of a work-of-art. As you could imagine, I really wanted to help. What I wanted to help with was executing their vision. There was an aesthetic looking to be created that just simply needed a little finessing.
And that is how our story began! We met at the gallery for our first consultation as part of the Couture For Living Design Service, and we talked about how they live in the home as a family and built a picture around what this looks like in the home now that all of the children are grown up and have moved away (they still come back thankfully!).
We always start with this one question….
What would you like the aesthetic to be in your home?
The answer to this from our client was……
Minimalist, Contemporary with Clean Lines
This Pinterest image was inspiration for our Mood Board.....

Our client also explained that they love…..
Pops of black, together with symmetry and wanted a feeling of calm and relaxation in their home as they entertain a lot!
Our client has very dark floorboards, and in our initial discussions, there was talk around changing these floorboards to something lighter to suit their new aesthetic. Personally, I loved the dark floorboards, I felt that they were in fitting with the contemporary aesthetic we were setting out to achieve.
We always work from the ground up, so this was an important factor in planning the new look of the Living Room. I suggested we put the floor aside for the moment and look at what pieces we can lighten up the room with. The Living Room was housing some gorgeous Leather Sofas that the family had enjoyed over the years, but they were very heavy in colour. The heaviness of the Sofas & dark floorboards was the obstacle we had to overcome.
Living Room Before!

There were three Sofas in the Living Room, and we established that one of the Sofas (in front of the sliding door) didn’t need replacing, as we could now create a flow through to the Outdoor Entertaining Area by freeing up this space.
This is the Mood Board we created…..
We explored a range of Rugs in the gallery, and one day I received an email from our client to say that if they leave the floorboards dark as they are, would the Baya Vermont Rug work? In my eyes, there could not be a more perfect choice. It laid the foundation for what was to come so perfectly.
After testing Sofas in our Gallery, our client kept coming back to the Molmic Aston Sofa. It is no secret that I love this Sofa. Honestly, how can you go past the classic lines and Timber Plinth at the base, it really is a masterpiece. Knowing our client loves symmetry, the Sofas could now sit in a balanced way opposite each other, creating a harmonious layout.
We worked to stay true to the “Pops of black” in the space by introducing Side Tables, Lamps and of course the Black Timber Plinth at the base of the Sofas. Our client really leaned into pattern and selected some gorgeous pieces from GlobeWest and Baya Living to complement the clean lines of the Sofas and Rug.
Pattern and colour, creating warmth with accessories
Our client has stayed true to her vision, and her aesthetic of….
Minimalist, Contemporary with Clean Lines
and created a Living Room that is a true sanctuary, a reflection of her impeccable style, personality and warmth that she exudes from the moment you meet her.

Our client kindly shared this Testimonial.....
“Working with the design team at Make Your House A Home has been an incredible experience from start to finish. From the moment I walked in, I felt supported, understood, and inspired.
I had the pleasure of working closely with Marnie and Jayda, both of whom brought creativity, expertise, and warmth to the entire process. Marnie, in particular, truly listened to my vision—even when I struggled to put it into words. She somehow just got it, presenting me with a range of beautiful options that matched my style perfectly. Her patience and understanding made all the difference as I explored ideas, changed my mind a few times, and fine-tuned the details to make everything work.
What I appreciated most was Marnie’s honesty. She gently guided me away from ideas that wouldn’t suit my space and offered practical, stylish alternatives that elevated the overall look. There was never any pressure or rush—just genuine care and a desire to help me create something I would love.
The whole process has not only resulted in a beautiful living room that I absolutely adore, but it’s also taught me so much about interior design. I’ve gained new insights into how to balance style and function, and how small details can transform a room.
I couldn’t be happier with the end result. My living room furniture is amazing and feels like a true reflection of my family.”
We have truly loved working with our client! From the moment they stepped into the gallery, we had a strong desire to execute their vision eloquently, and with grace, so every time they walked into their Living Room, it truly felt like their space.
It was a true collaboration, and we may have shared some tips and tricks along the way, but it was our client who so kindly shared with us their exceptional style and warmth.
We continue to work with our client, as once you sign up to be a design client, you are a design client for life!
